This year, we introduced a new initiative called the Big G Little G Program. In this program, high school student volunteers are paired with elementary school students. During our IT time, the high school "Big Gs" visit their younger partners, the "Little Gs." The mentors have the opportunity to sit with the students in class, play with them, or simply hang out around the elementary school. This program benefits both groups of students: the older ones have fun with the younger students and also help them consider potential career paths, while the younger students receive attention and guidance from their mentors, all while having fun.
Recently, our entire program went on a field trip to the Clare Movie Theater. This trip provided an opportunity for the students to leave school and bond with their mentors outside the classroom. It was a chance for both the Big and Little Gs to take a break from the pressures of schoolwork and enjoy quality time together. Our younger students particularly look forward to spending time with older peers who serve as positive role models and embody the values and character we strive for in our school district.
